Description

A rare violin in fine condition, conserved rather than played, which matches several of the period, including the ‘Kreutzer’. Made when the master was in his 84th year, the violin is capable of producing a clean, aggressive, light sound and all shades in between as well. Includes measurements.

‘In the “Milanollo” the boldness of Stradivari’s golden period seems to have given way to a more genteel approach: there is, for example, no flattening to the outline of the scroll where it faces the pegbox’ – Roger Hargrave in the June 1998 issue of The Strad
