One of the few \u2018del Ges\u00f9\u2019 instruments dated 1741, the ‘Kochanski’\u00a0is exceptional due to its fine state of preservation and pristine varnish. The thickness of the coat is almost undisturbed by polishing, and its glistening texture emphasises the instrument\u2019s freshness and natural condition.<\/p>\n
\u2018Arguments rumble on as to whether Guarneri was insane, incompetent or a genius beyond our ken, but there is no denying that this violin is a wonderful artefact, thrilling to the eye and ear\u2019 \u2013 John Dilworth in the October 1994 issue of The Strad.<\/p>\n
